Ferning and The
Fertility Tracker
Since 1945, scientists
have been studying the phenomenon of ferning in cervical fluid, when
Papanicolau first observed microscopic crystal formations in cervical fluid
(cervical mucus). Subsequently, other scientific researchers have studied
ferning of other body fluids, including saliva. It has been concluded that
there is a direct correlation between saliva ferning and ovulation.
Generally speaking, it
appears that salivary ferning begins one to two days before the onset of wet
cervical fluid. A saliva fertility monitor can be used to help determine
when a woman is in her fertile period. With continuous use, a saliva
fertility monitor will be able to indicate a woman’s monthly cycle
behavior. Saliva fertility monitors can even be used to help avoid
undesired pregnancy.
Why Ferning
Detection is Better
When it comes to
knowing exactly when it is that you ovulate and how your cycle works,
ferning detection can provide you with up to 98% accuracy. You can use a
saliva fertility monitor along with a basal body temperature chart to
accurately identify when you are most fertile and to help you even select
the gender of your child. Unlike urine LH monitors, saliva monitors can
provide you with advance notice of ovulation – up to 5 days prior.
Today, one of the
most advanced and most cost-effective saliva fertility monitors is the
Fertility Tracker. The Fertility Tracker was designed to help women
understand their cycles and bodies and be able to use this information in a
natural way to either conceive or avoid conception. The Fertility Tracker
uses your saliva to help you determine your personal fertility status
daily. Levels of estrogen which are known to rise during the pre-ovulation
period are seen through the patterns formed on the lens.
